Synopsis: The movie starts off on a rather light note with some light hearted comedy scenes and picks up pace after the 20 minute mark. Vijay sethupathy is potrayed as a drunkard. He then leaves his home along with a bag which angers his family when they find about it the next day.A flashback is then shown which reveals the protagonist's journey onto getting a MBBS degree from Madurai Medical College and the friendships he forges along the way. Then an emotional scene follows after which comes the interval.

The second half begins with the protagonist narrating the incident which changed his life from a doctor to the man he is now to his college mate tammanah. A dark secret about tammanah is shown and romance scenes are potrayed between the lead pair. How Vijay Sethupathy rejoins with his family forms the crux of the movie.

Songs and Background Score: Yuvan is back to his soulful best with this album and all the songs have been placed perfectly in the film. The background score is melodious and brings out the true essence of the film.

What works for the film:

1: Vijay Sethupathy again proves his versatility as an actor pulling off the lead role easily.
2: Raadhika's role as Vijay's mother is potrayed beautifully.
3: Tammanah shines in her role.
4: The gripping screenplay and BGM elevates the particular scene to a higher level.

What doesn't Work:

1: Srushti Dange's role is too short and does not contribute to the plot much.
2:The film starts to slack a bit in the middle.A runtime of around 2 hours would have been perfect.

Verdict: Dharmadurai works out as a terrific drama film with an excellent starcast and gripping screenplay and is a bit different from other drama films.

Overall Rating: 3.5/5
